The government of Saint Lucia continues to strengthen its ties with the international community with the signing of the Joint Communiqué on Diplomatic Relation between Saint Lucia and New Zealand.The government of Saint Lucia has established diplomatic ties with the government of New Zealand with the aim of promoting mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
The Caribbean Development Bank’s annual meeting is taking place in Saint Lucia this week and is expected to be intense as members of the CDB plot a fiscal way forward for the upcoming term.
"We are joining the Ten Island Challenge because it is consistent with the goals of our government to develop a renewable energy sector and transition to a green economy," said James Fletcher, minister of sustainable development and energy, Saint Lucia.
On Saturday night, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 was felt in several islands in the northeastern Caribbean, including Antigua and Barbuda, but there were no immediate reports of injury of damage. Late last month, Antigua and Barbuda and several other countries in the Leeward Islands were rocked by a quake with a magnitude of 5.1, also with an epicenter close to Barbuda.Saturday night’s earthquake is the latest in a series of tremors that have been occurring in several Caribbean countries in recent months.Earlier this month, Trinidad and Tobago was shaken by a quake with a magnitude of 3.7 as officials warned residents of the oil rich twin-island republic to be prepared for a major earthquake.
