| Two road accidents remain under police investigation |

Police are continuing investigations into a fatal accident in Dennery. At approximately 2:00 am Saturday, Officers attached to the Richfond Police Station responded to a serious vehicular accident which occurred near Fond D’or, Dennery. Motor car registration number PD 1924 driven by Dwight Mathurin of Grande Riviere, Dennery was traveling in the direction of Dennery; when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole off the right side of the road. There were three occupants on board. Allison Anigille, Vernet Fernellon and the driver Dwight Mathurin of all residents of Grande Riviere. As a result of the impact, all occupants sustained injuries and were transported to the Victoria Hospital. Vernet Fernellon was pronounced dead on arrival. The other two occupants were treated and discharged. Also on Saturday, about 1:15 pm, Officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station responded to a report of a serious vehicular accident which occurred at Rodney Bay, Gros Islet. On arrival at the scene, officers received information that motor pick up registration number 1010 driven by 35 year old Christopher Hunte of Bonneterre, was travelling in an easterly direction when he came into contact with a black motor cycle travelling in the opposite direction. The rider was identified as 23 year old Francis Giraudy also known as Junior of Corinth, Gros Islet. At the time of the accident the motor cycle did not carry a registration number. As a result of the impact, Francis Giraudy sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Victoria Hospital where he was treated and is currently admitted in a critical condition. An investigation into the matter is ongoing. |
