An historic educational cooperation agreement between the Martiniquan Academy and the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour has been signed. The two Islands are seeking to strengthen cooperation in the fields of linguistics and teacher training given geographical and cultural proximity. The agreement promotes exchanges between schools, facilitate access to internships and vocational training for the youth of both Islands. It is also expected to enhance access by St.Lucians to higher learning institutions in Martinique. The Cooperation agreement is supported by the French Embassy to the OECS, and the Alliance Francaise. It makes provision for a teacher from Martinique who is in charge of coordinating activities under the agreement to be based here in St.Lucia effective September 2012. The signing took place at the Ministry of Education. |
