The St Lucia Civil Service Association has advised its members to boycott any activities planned for the upcoming observance of Public Service Day on June 23rd. The move comes as the Union’s General Secretary reports that CSA members are experiencing growing anxiety about the silence between the Union and the government’s negotiating team. Talks between the two organizations came to a halt prior to the presentation of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure but David Demacque says that they were expected to have resumed by now. He says the failure of the government’s negotiating team to sit with the union represents a lack of urgency and disregard for the contribution that public servants make. He says, public servants have very little to be happy about and find it difficult to participate in activities when they are not being respected by their employer. |
