Beginning 1st July government’s coordinated approach to tackling the unemployment rate will be heightened with the activation of the Home Care Program for the elderly. It is one of the components under the National Initiative to Create Employment, NICE. NICE was officially launched yesterday in Vieux Fort. Perry Thomas is the Project Coordinator. Prime Minister Dr.Kenny Anthony told the gathering that although there was a slight decrease in the unemployment in the last quarter, the rate remains exceedingly high at over 20 percent. Dr.Anthony noted that joblessness is affecting not just the unskilled but even holders of degrees. Dr.Anthony said in the coming weeks he will address the nation of the detailed strategic to energize the construction sector as the prime factor in boosting the economy.
