A new study published in Washington DC, is urging Latin America and Caribbean governments to renew efforts to modernize their tax system.The study done by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) suggests that while Latin America and the Caribbean have made great strides in boosting tax collection in recent years, they need a new generation of fiscal and tax reform to reduce income inequality, cut evasion, boost productivity, strengthen local governments and preserve the region’s natural resources.
St.Lucia and the Caribbean record an increase in foreign direct investment
The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) says the region received a “new record high” of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2012.According to the ECLAC report “Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean 2012”, the region received US$173.3 billion dollars, (6.7 per cent more than in 2011), “despite an external context characterized by shrinking foreign direct investment flows worldwide”.

A main component of the System is polygraph testing, or lie detector test, which officers in sensitive departments and the top brass of the Force are required to take.
